The Wisdom of Our Experiences: Shane Feldman
Shane Feldman is the COO of the National Association of the Deaf. In our continuing series "The Wisdom of Our Experiences," Shane provides three tips to help you find success.
- Network your way to success. If you want to work for a particular employer/industry, find out which NTID/RIT alumni work at the employer/in the industry through your professors/career center. Introduce yourselves via email. NTID/RIT alumni love hearing from NTID/RIT students and may be able to help.
- Attend deaf professional events and conferences. This is an opportune time to network and make others aware of your knowledge, skills, and abilities. NTID/RIT alumni often keep an eye out for new NITD/RIT employees/co-workers to join us at our employers.
- Seek co-op opportunities, internships, volunteer activities, or employment/contracts at employers with strong reputations or brand-name recognition. Including the names of employers with strong reputations and brand-name recognition does wonders for enhancing the attractiveness of your resume.
