From the NTIDAA Chair
Greetings RIT/NTID Alumni,
As a longtime volunteer for RIT/NTID, I am constantly discovering people, places and things that INSPIRE me to stay involved with RIT/NTID. My favorite annual event is the RIT's Presidents' Alumni Ball during the RIT Brick Homecoming. It was impressive to see many alumni come back to campus to visit their classmates and to see how the institution has transformed since they were students.
Inspiration fuels involvement. To me, this sentence sums up what it means to be RIT/NTID alumni volunteers. It captures the emotional ties to the institution that bring alumni back to campus, the NTID Alumni Board of Directors to work together to brainstorm to provide better services to alumni and alumni participation at event that support RIT/NTID.
The NTID Alumni Association Board of Directors held their fall meeting at RIT/NTID on October 14. To get acquainted with these board members – click on this address.
The Alumni Association Board is "Walking the Talk" by completing the three primary goals that I shared in the summer edition of AlumniNews:
- Created a new video about Sebastian and Lenore Rosica Hall (formerly known as Imagination Hall). Please join us and contribute to this important effort.
- Created awareness of the benefits and services for RIT/NTID Alumni. Please check it out.
- Provided information about the scholarships that provide support for deserving deaf and hard-of-hearing students at RIT/NTID.
On behalf of NTIDAABOD, I'd like to thank Gabi Nocciolino '09 for coordinating the American Sign Language Interpreting Education (ASLIE) Alumni Panel. Gabi developed five questions for the panel in order to give the NTIDAABOD a better understanding of the experience of ASLIE Alumni in relation to the NTID alumni community as a whole. Watch for information on an ALSIE Alumni Appreciation event in May 2012.
In the Spring of 2012, you will be introduced to "Got NTID LOVE?" – a movement to build alumni involvement by development Leaders of Volunteer Engagement. NTID LOVE will open doors to engagement opportunities for you across the Institution and the world! On behalf of NTIDAABOD, we hope that you will step through those doors and let your inspiration fuel your involvement for RIT/NTID. More details will be provided soon.
As we move forward in accomplishing these goals, we welcome input from all interested alumni. Visit the alumni website to follow our progress.
On behalf of the NTIDAABOD, I wish you a Happy Holiday season!
With warmest regards,
Angie Officer
