A New Year and a New Role

Hey everyone! A new year, a new semester and a lot has changed. Some ambassadors have graduated, and I recently recruited three new members with Erin, assistant director of NTID Admissions and Visitation, They’re sitting right next to me and I’m teaching them how to use the blog. Their names are Natalie Snyder, Sophie Phillips and Tyler Grabousky.

This should be a great year. I’ve taken Stephanie’s role as coordinator and look forward to the new changes that will come to me in the role. It should be interesting. I remember coming in a couple years ago as a rookie, and now I’m in this position, and I’m training the rookies. It’s a great perspective changer. I also wanted to mention how great the new hockey arena looks, it’s phenomenal. As a junior l look forward to what the next two years have to offer. I can’t believe its already been a month since school’s started. It’s been a blast so far. O.k., so I have to get to work, I’ll see you later!

About Dylan

Major: Industrial Design

Hometown: Jackson, N.J.

Why I Chose RIT: I’ve wanted to pursue my dreams of being an Industrial Designer since I was a freshman in high school. When I discovered that RIT had deaf students and one of the best Industrial Design programs in the country, I knew RIT was right for me.

Clubs/Activities: Swim, go to the gym and create art.

Hobbies/Interests: A hobby of mine is restoring old cars. I have a 1966 Ford truck that I drive at home, and I started work on a 1950 Chevy coupe over the summer. It’s a true passion of mine. I'm also interested in motorcycles.

What I like Best About RIT: The best part of RIT is interacting with deaf and hard-of-hearing people as well as hearing people all on one campus. The opportunities I get at RIT as a result of these interactions are second to none.

Favorite T.V. Show: “Doctor Who,” “Lost,” “Breaking Bad” and “Smallville.”

Fun Fact About Me: I travel frequently. I've been to several countries including Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Portugal, to name a few.
