Major: American Sign Language-English Interpretation

Hometown: Frederick, Maryland

Why I chose RIT: I chose RIT because it provides me with everything I need and it matches my identity. As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), I fit in with both the deaf and hearing communities; RIT is the best of both worlds.

Clubs/Activities: Student Interpreter at the Department of Access Services & Senior Resident Advisor in the Residence Halls

Hobbies/Interests: I love to stay active by biking, swimming, hiking and playing soccer.

What I like best about RIT: I love that there is always something to do and people to meet. No day is ever the same!

Favorite T.V. Shows: “Grey's Anatomy”

Fun fact about me: I'm a CODA.

Hometown: Fairfax, Virginia

Clubs/Activities: Tiger Cues, Deaf Basketball Association, Deaf Volleyball Associate, adventurous activities.

Hobbies/Interests: I love to play video games, hang out with friends and travel!

What I Like Best About RIT: Communication access because it has everything that I need, such as interpreting and notetaking.

Favorite T.V Show: Anything related to crime scene investigation or naval criminal investigation.

Fun Fact About Me: I love trying or doing new things-I am a risk taker!

Major: Laboratory Science Technology

Hometown: Merced, California

Why I Chose RIT: I chose RIT because it offered the major I wanted to study. They have both worlds—deaf and hearing—on campus. I also came here to see what it's like to live on and experience the East coast. 

Clubs/Activities: Hands of Fire, Cru (a Christian organization), Latin American Deaf Club. 

Hobbies/Interests: I love listening to music and running.

What I Like Best About RIT: There are so many different people you meet. Not only that, RIT has the best of both worlds!

Favorite T.V. Show: “Criminal Minds,” “Sundance” and “CSI.” 

Fun Fact About Me: When I was a freshman student here at RIT, I dyed my hair blue!

Why I Chose RIT: Awesome programs and deaf people.

Hobbies/Interests: Cars, repairing cars, skiing, biking, swimming and socializing with friends.

What I Like Best About RIT: Large campus and diversity of people.

Favorite T.V. Show: “Burn Notice,” “MONK,” “Tom & Jerry” and “Sponge Bob Squarepants.”

Fun fact about me: I have a double joint on my thumbs, which allows me to bend my thumbs backwards, I am a big fan of BMW vehicles and I love cats.

Hometown: New York, New York 

Clubs/Activities: Coach for Deaf Basketball Association (DBA) 

Hobbies/Interests: Watch TV and read books regarding cultural history. I also like to be outdoors. 

What I Like Best About RIT: Plenty of haunted houses around RIT. 

Favorite T.V Show: "The Walking Dead," "Fear of the Walking Dead," "Bar Rescue," "Codename: Kids Next Door," "Supernatural," "Ed 'n Eddie," "Dexter's Laboratory," "Tom and Jerry," "Powerpuff Girls" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog." 

Fun Fact About Me: I love Halloween themes and snow.

Major: Individualized Study

Hometown: Moorhead, Minnesota

Clubs/Activities: Latin Rhythm Dance Club, No Voice Zone, School of Individualized Study Student Council President, New Student Orientation.

Hobbies/Interests: Sports, movies, reading, hiking, biking, traveling, drinking coffee on a gloomy day.

What I Like Best About RIT: The beautiful campus and our friendly students!

Favorite T.V Show: "Game of Thrones"

Fun Fact About Me: I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in high school.

Hometown: Newtown Square, Pennsylvania

Major: Political Science

Clubs/Activities: I was selected to be a participant in RIT's Annual Political Science Convention, where I presented a research paper. I also assist at Open House. 

Hobbies/Interests: I absolutely love to travel. I also enjoy discussing politics and international affairs, writing, cooking and doing outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking and kayaking. 

What I Like Best About RIT: I have found RIT to be a particularly inclusive and diverse community. Having a large deaf and hard-of-hearing population, along with students from all over the world is what makes RIT so unique and open to everybody. Being deaf myself, I have felt at home here at RIT. 

Favorite T.V Show: "The Blacklist" 

Fun Fact About Me: I wasn't always named Forrest. I changed my name when I was 8 years old, and changed it legally when I was 16. 

DanDan

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Clubs/Activities: ASL club

Hobbies/Interests: I typically spend my free time exploring Rochester and the surrounding area.

What I Like Best About RIT: The large campus, but still has a small school feel.

Favorite T.V Show: "Breaking Bad"

Fun fact: I've been in a hot air balloon.

Clubs/Activities: ASL club, Greek life, volunteering at animal shelters, Student Interpreting Association.

Hobbies/Interests: Traveling, baking, watching old movies and reading.

What I Like Best About RIT: I always feel comfortable when I'm at RIT. I never feel out of place when I'm here. 

Favorite T.V Show: "Twin Peaks"

Fun Fact About Me: I can't do anything right handed, except use a computer mouse. Doing that with my left hand feels wrong. 

Kelly JoKelly Jo

Major: Marketing

Hometown: Columbia City, Indiana

Why I chose RIT: I grew up going to a public school, and was the only deaf girl out of the 400 students in my class. I loved the idea that at RIT I’d get the best of both worlds—hearing and deaf—and get the access services I needed. Choosing RIT was definitely one of the best decisions I've made!

Clubs/Activities: I am a member of the Brick City Crossfit club. We tend to meet for an hour three times a week. I also enjoy going to the gymnastics club twice a week. I was a cheerleader/dancer my whole life, so attending gymnastics club definitely brings back great old memories!

Hobbies/Interests: I am currently a fashion blogger for “That's So Fashionating.” My two yorkie-poos, Miley Jo and Max, mean the world to me! I enjoy taking them to the dog park. I also enjoy running and doing crossfit.

What I like best about RIT: The entire RIT community accepts me for who I am. Everyone is very open minded and accepting with the deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Favorite T.V. Shows: “Project Runway” is by far my favorite T.V. show. Tim Gunn is my legend!

Fun fact about me: I'm a vegan!

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Hometown: Newcastle, Washington

Clubs/Activities: Alpha Xi Delta - Delta Lambda chapter, Society of Women Engineers and Deaf Basketball Association

Hobbies/Interests: Dancing, hiking, cheering on the Seahawks and scrolling through Reddit.

What I Like Best About RIT: There are always fun activities going on every week and a ton of opportunities to get involved in the community.

Favorite T.V Show: I have way too many favorites, some are "Psych," "Monk," "Prison Break" and "Breaking Bad."

Fun Fact About Me: I studied abroad for five weeks in France.
