Back to School!

Hey guys! I know its been a while since I last posted, but a lot has happened since going on break and starting school again. But I’ll start with a quick highlight of my break.

Back home in Maryland it was surprisingly warm some days, so the short break from the cold weather in Rochester was great. The break also was good because I was busy working at the local electronic store, while still being able to relax from school. I was busy working about 40 hours a week around the holidays, but as time went on, my hours were decreased and I was able to relax more. Christmas day was great, but to highlight it, I got American flag pants, American flag socks and an American flag mouse pad.

Fast forward to the end of break, where I came to school a week early for winter training as an RA. Despite waking up early, working all day, and going to bed early, it was definitely good to see all my friends a week early. And then before I knew it, classes were the next day.

Classes have been fun so far, but also very busy. I’m starting to take more interpreting heavy classes, and gaining great experiences. The instructors I have now are great and also give excellent feedback and I feel like that I am growing as an interpreter. I’ve also started to take an introductory class to legal interpreting, which is definitely challenging but rewarding. So, we’ll see where the class takes me in the future.

And lastly, I have the opportunity to work with full-time interpreters to research how interpreters are tested and evaluated, as well as develop recommendations for future practice within the interpreting profession. While daunting, the experience has been rewarding.

America !

And here’s a picture of my American flag collection.
