Winter Days Are Here at RIT

Hey everyone,
As semesters are coming to a close, the workload is the complete opposite. More and more projects are being assigned and due. However, I like the concept of semesters as they allow more free time and focus on bigger projects. But enough of the academics. It is finally getting chilly here in Rochester. There have been a few nights with snow and the mornings are definitely getting colder. It’s a necessity to bundle up for the 15 minute walk from my dorm to my first class. I finally got the chance to open up my heavy-duty winter clothes, but sadly I forgot my favorite winter jacket at home in Maryland. But luckily for me, some of my residents and I are going to AMVETS for the Veteran’s Day Celebration so we’ll see if I can find a new jacket. The small shopping centers near campus are definitely a nice way to get off campus and just escape. Some of them are even in walking distance.

Over the last few weeks, the nights have been longer as more and more homework is being done. But I would say that my favorite way to relax and take a break from the work, is to grab a friend or two and head to the corner store for a late night snack. Luckily for us on campus, the Corner Store is a late night convenience store that is open until 2 am everyday. They have everything from candy, chips, and even milkshakes. On top of that, the store is actually connected in the tunnels, so I don’t even have to go outside. So as the weather gets colder and colder, I doubt my late night trips to the Corner Store will slow down.

Although my workload is getting bigger and bigger, and the weather colder and colder. I love this part of the year on campus. And for the fun of it, here’s a picture of my view from my room from the 12th floor here in my dorm.IMG_1621
