Wow, What a Week!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. I’ve been really busy since then. Winter Break was extremely long and fun: I went to Indiana for Christmas with family, Boston for New Year’s with friends, and a few other places. We are now going into the fourth week of the semester, and last Friday I gave an individualized campus tour. It was a fantastic one, too. The high school student was interested in RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences,  which is well known for programs in Photography, Industrial Design plus other excellent programs including New Media Design. Giving a tour reminded me of my open house tour, which was in November 2011. I know, that’s a long time ago, right?

The open house tour that I attended when I was a high school was one of the most important factors that helped me choose RIT. After I toured the campus I went to a student panel, and it consisted of prospective high school students asking a panel of RIT students  about what RIT was all about and what it had to offer. I knew after Open House that RIT was the place for me and I still stand by my decision. I love this school, and I can’t wait to find out what else it can offer me.

About Dylan

Major: Industrial Design

Hometown: Jackson, N.J.

Why I Chose RIT: I’ve wanted to pursue my dreams of being an Industrial Designer since I was a freshman in high school. When I discovered that RIT had deaf students and one of the best Industrial Design programs in the country, I knew RIT was right for me.

Clubs/Activities: Swim, go to the gym and create art.

Hobbies/Interests: A hobby of mine is restoring old cars. I have a 1966 Ford truck that I drive at home, and I started work on a 1950 Chevy coupe over the summer. It’s a true passion of mine. I'm also interested in motorcycles.

What I like Best About RIT: The best part of RIT is interacting with deaf and hard-of-hearing people as well as hearing people all on one campus. The opportunities I get at RIT as a result of these interactions are second to none.

Favorite T.V. Show: “Doctor Who,” “Lost,” “Breaking Bad” and “Smallville.”

Fun Fact About Me: I travel frequently. I've been to several countries including Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Portugal, to name a few.
