Cynthia Ann Sanders attended two schools for the deaf: St. Mary’s School for the Deaf and Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, from which she graduated in 1983.
Dr. Sander’s dissertation was entitled “The Application of Speech Act Theory to American Sign Language.”
Dr. Sanders is the director of the ASL Program. She oversees the various programs that offer ASL courses. In addition, she conducts workshops related to various themes such as ASL teaching methods, ASL learning tools, and various features of ASL. A new curriculum—ASL at Work—is currently in press and will be released in Fall, 2009.
As a Sensei, Dr. Sanders enjoys karate immensely and has the Black Belt First Degree.
