Donna has taught American Sign Language to RIT and NTID faculty, staff, and students for over 30 years. She has participated in several research efforts related to ASL and communication in the classroom. Donna has led and contributed to efforts in establishing several communication assessment procedures for faculty and staff at NTID (Sign Language Proficiency Interview, Classroom Sign Language Assessment, and Group Communication Observation Tool). She served as academic chairperson for two different departments at NTID.
Donna is currently in the RIT retirement transition process where she will soon retire from her teaching in ASLIE. In the meantime, she continues to teach and contribute to curriculum development in ASL for different ASL programs on campus.
Donna is an artist with current interests in photography. She has shown her work in exhibits in the Rochester area. Some of her work can be seen in the Image Collection: International Archive of Deaf Artists at RIT (http://wally.rit.edu).
She has two married children and two grandchildren. Donna enjoys her gardens in the country, where she lives with her husband.

Adapting ASL to the college classroom setting where students have a variety of language and communication skills and preferences; developing simultaneous communication skills in the classroom using features of ASL effectively; incorporating technical sign vocabulary or course content sign vocabulary using semantically appropriate ASL and fingerspelling
