RECEPTIVE PRACTICE (BEGINNING) #240-01

Description

    This course is designed for participants who want to develop ASL comprehension skills. Introduction of new signs vocabulary, increased understanding of ASL grammatical features, and exposure to issues important to the deaf community and Deaf culture are accomplished through use of videotape analysis, invited guest speakers, and classroom interaction. Discussion of factors that influence the variety and structure of ASL used by deaf students and discussion of deaf students' experiences using ASL will be included.

Prerequisite: Completion of ASL 1A, 1B, 1C, and/or SLPI of Survival Plus or Intermediate, or recommendation of ASL instructor.
