Ashleen Evans

Lebanon, IN
Accounting with a concentration in Deaf Studies.
Why I chose my major:

I love math more than English. My personality matches the field of Accounting.

Why I chose RIT:
Because of the deaf community, and I wanted to learn more about Deaf culture. I also wanted to get a great education and have a good social life.
What I like best about RIT:

The large deaf community and opportunities to explore my passion before getting into the real world.

Best part of living on campus:

Learning to become independent and meeting new friends.

Dream job:
Own a business related to veterinary medicine like an animal hospital.
Favorite spot on campus:

The Tiger Statue.

Favorite professor:
Robert Spinelli, because students participate in class discussions and he lectures on topics that are related to the real world.
Favorite class:
Stress management because this class taught me different techniques on how to set priorities and relieve stress. This will help me be better prepared for the real world.
What excites me about RIT:

The large deaf community.

My most memorable experience at RIT/NTID:
The opportunity to interact with so many deaf people and getting to know them, which led me to become a student leader here on campus.
If I could tell prospective students only one thing about RIT/NTID, it would be:

RIT has a large Deaf community and provides many opportunities to learn about being a leader.

Favorite place to eat in Rochester:
The Distillery.
Favorite movie:
The one thing I can't live without:
I cannot live without my family and friends.
