Associate+Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality and Service Management
Why I chose my major:

I like working with people and making memorable customer experiences.

Why I chose RIT:
I chose RIT for a few reasons. One reason is the outstanding access services. RIT has more than 100 interpreters on campus who are available for classes, events and club meetings. Another reason is that I am a big hockey fan and both RIT men’s and women's hockey teams are Division I. I bleed orange and brown (RIT’s school colors)! Also, the RIT community is AMAZING. We get so much support from everyone. I also like that the campus is diverse.
What I like best about RIT:

The spirit!

Best part of living on campus:

I don’t have to worry about missing the bus to get to school! Plus, everything I need is on campus. No need to drive back and forth to school. I also can walk and/or ride my bike. It’s a great way to exercise!

Dream job:
My dream job is managing events such as weddings, graduation parties, retirement parties, Christmas parties, etc.; or to be a director for student affairs at a college.
Favorite spot on campus:

I would have to say Java Wally’s simply because I love the vibe there. The walls are full of old records from the 70s and 80s, and the room is a comfortable setting to be in. I have found it a place where I can study and meet my classmates and friends.

Favorite professor:
Professor DiGaetano, because she has a lot of talents and is skilled in what she does. She is one of the coordinators for one of the biggest festivals in the Rochester area called “The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.” She brings her skills and real-world knowledge about hospitality into the classroom without us having to read a book or watch a movie.
Favorite class:
Venue Management, because it is a class where we learn about different types of venues and most of our class time is spent off campus at different locations. We learn about the specific logistics of each venue and the type of events that are held there.
What excites me about RIT:

The community here is fabulous! I love how the hearing students want to learn sign language, and the deaf community has a strong bond with their peers.

My most memorable experience at RIT/NTID:
There are so many, but I probably would say Move-In Day, because that’s when I met all of my new friends and classmates. The day when I knew I was at the right college because of two worlds that I live in, the hearing world and the deaf world.
If I could tell prospective students only one thing about RIT/NTID, it would be:

You wouldn’t believe the things that go on at campus, the events, the community, the access services, I mean you get the best of everything here! The variety of opportunities that RIT makes available to students is outstanding.

Favorite place to eat in Rochester:
Dinosaur BBQ
Favorite movie:
The “Twilight” series.
Fun fact about me:

I have taken nine cruises.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have:
I have not had the opportunity to travel a lot by car or plane.
The one thing I can't live without:
My family. They are my biggest supporters, and they always have encouraged me to go to school and be successful. Without the support and encouragement that I constantly get from them, I would not be here right now.
