If you will be in 10 – 12 grade in fall of 2018, are interested in science, technology, engineering and/or math and would like to learn about a career in drone technology or robotics, then RIT’s Droids and Drones summer program for deaf and hard-of-hearing students is for you!

This free* program is conducted by the Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf and is available for students  who are residents of the following southeastern states:  Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina or Tennessee.

This free program is limited to 40 students who are entering grades 10 – 12 in fall 2018 and who are residents of the following southeastern states:  Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina or Tennessee.  

To see if you qualify, please submit the following:

 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students who are entering grades 10 – 12 in fall of 2018 and are in excellent academic standing may apply. Applicants must submit:

  • The application, filled out by the student
  • An official copy of your cumulative high school transcript
  • A recent copy of your audiogram (without aids such as hearing aids or cochlear implants)
  • A brief essay from you (the student) describing your long-term career goal and why you think this program will benefit you.

We will contact you if you are accepted and you will be required to complete and submit some standard camp forms for the program.

*Cost:  The program this year is free and only for campers who are residents of the above-mentioned southeastern states because of special funding for the event. There will be some financial support for travel as well. Parents or guardians will need to request financial support for travel in writing, indicating how much support they are requesting and why they are requesting it.
