Cochlear Implant Program
Cochlear implant specialists can help
There are many students with cochlear implants at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), and the numbers are growing. NTID first began serving students with cochlear implants in 1984. Currently, there are over 200 students with cochlear implants on campus.
The Communication Studies and Services Department has several cochlear implant specialists who offer a wide range of services to students with cochlear implants in the college community. Specialists also field inquiries concerning cochlear implants from outside the college community.

| If you have a cochlear implant, audiologists will work with you using a computer assisted auditory training program to try to improve your listening skills. | Cochlear implant mapping software is available to audiologists who will use it to map CI equipment for you in one of several specially outfitted testing suites. |

You and your audiologist can use specialty materials from the CI manufacturer to role-play as part of speech-reading practice.
If you need an appointment with a cochlear implant specialist, please contact Wendy DiMatteo.
