I am currently a professor and chair of the Department of Cultural and Creative Studies at NTID/RIT. I earned my Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, focusing my studies on language and audition. I have taught a variety of undergraduate courses at NTID and graduate courses at both NTID and the University of Rochester. My research generally has focused on error analysis and the acquisition of English language and literacy skills, auditory perception and speech production, and the acquisition and assessment of ASL as a second language. I have served as a reviewer for various professional and academic publications including the Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, Language and Speech, Studies in Second Language Acquisition, Volta Review, Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, and Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
