Class Description
Introduces students to major concepts and issues in the field of deaf studies. The course integrates the fields of history, anthropology, linguistics, creative arts and literature as they apply to Deaf culture and the Deaf community. The course is designed to foster students’ active participation as a means of developing strong leadership and advocacy skills among NTID students. After completing this course, students will be able to pursue specific areas of interest within the deaf studies/ASL program. (ACT arts/literature reading score 1–4 or permission of instructor).
