Introduction to Play Creating
Class Description
Uses a workshop approach to explore what being a playwright/play creator means. Class topics include exploring each writer's values and points of view, bringing those viewpoints to life on the stage, developing rounded characters, structuring action, creating dialogue and taking a play through workshop critique. The goals of the course for each student are to develop a more finely tuned theatrical sensitivity and to have a playable scene, act, or one-act play by the end of the quarter. These plays may be scripted in English, American Sign Language or visual theater systems. (ACT arts/literature score 8Ð10 or permission of instructor) Class 3, Credit 3 (S)
