An Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) or an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Applied Computer Technology (ACT) will prepare you for a career in computer support occupations that involve:

• Installing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing computer hardware and software.
• Networking and security that allows computers to be secured and safely communicate and share resources with one another.
• Developing and maintaining websites.

You will acquire a strong foundation in:

• Computer hardware and operating systems.
• Computer networking and security.
• Computer applications such as XHTML programming, Web page development, databases, and Microsoft Office software applications.

As a student in the Applied Computer Technology program, you will select an area to specialize in by choosing a program concentration in either PC Technical Support, Web Development and Database, or Networking and Cyber Security.

PC Technical Support Concentration

If you select this concentration, you will develop skills specific to working in a business environment repairing, upgrading, and interfacing PCs and MACs as well as working with peripherals and networks.

Web Development and Database Concentration

If you select this concentration, you will develop skills specific to developing and maintaining websites as well as developing and maintaining the databases linked to the websites.

Networking and Cyber Security Concentration

If you select this concentration, you will develop skills specific to setting up, maintaining, and securing corporate networks.
