2+2 Program in Engineering Technology

If you are interested in a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, choose RIT’s 2+2 (associate + bachelor’s degree program) in Engineering Technology for a state of the art academic program that offers you unparalleled academic support.

You start with a two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) transfer degree program in Applied Mechanical Technology offered by RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf. This program provides you with courses and credits you need to transfer to and successfully complete a baccalaureate program in RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology.

Upon completion of six quarters in your AAS program, you will transfer directly into RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology, where you can major either in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

The best value

Because RIT receives special federal support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, you pay about one-third of RIT’s regular tuition. You receive a top-quality education at a substantially reduced tuition rate. And when you select an RIT 2+2 program, you’re also eligible for a scholarship of up to $3,500 per year for up to five years.

Here’s How the Scholarship Works:

  • You must be accepted into an RIT 2+2 program, and you must have an ACT score of 16 or above for the Engineering Technology program.
  • While in your associate degree program, you’re eligible for a $2,500 scholarship per year for up to three years.
  • Upon successful transfer into your bachelor’s degree program, you’ll be eligible to continue receiving the original $2,500 per year plus an additional $1,000 per year.
  • While at RIT you must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher for scholarship renewal.

These special scholarships are available for new students entering the 2+2 program, but the number of scholarships available is limited, so apply early.
