The field of optics is growing rapidly. Companies are in intense competition for well-trained, skilled workers, and prospective starting salaries can range anywhere from $28,000 to $55,000 a year. The intensity of needs brought about by increased homeland security issues, and the growing needs of the military specifically, are causing an increased demand for workers in this field.
As a graduate of the AOT program, you’ll be prepared for a variety of jobs including precision-lens grinder, precision-lens polisher, precision-lens generator, precision optics fabrication technician, CNC lens processing technician, optical manufacturing technician, inspector, or optical coater, to name a few.
As an AOT student, you’re required to complete one 10-week cooperative work experience (co-op) in precision optics. Extensive training, along with your co-op, will give you the skills and experience that can lead to an exciting career in the optical industry.
