Telescopes, microscopes, DVDs, CDs, optical scanners—all depend on precision optics. In fact, the field of precision optics is the cornerstone of the computer, aerospace, audio-visual, medical, eye care, and internet industries. Whether you like the idea of working with precision instrumentation or prefer interacting with people and applying technology, if you are looking for a rewarding career in a growing industry, the Applied Optical Technology (AOT) program can take you there.
Graduates of the AOT Program are well-prepared to work for industries that serve the military, aerospace and biomedical industries by creating telescopes, microscopes, and optical components that have applications both for national security and everyday life. Graduates will also be able to create lenses for the film industry or create optical components for telecommunications satellites as well as apply surfacing and finishing techniques used for prescription eyewear.
