DSES offers a Pre-Baccalaureate Studies Program through which RIT/NTID students receive ongoing advising aimed at helping them prepare for admission into degree programs offered by RIT's Colleges of Applied Science and Technology, Engineering, and Science. Most pre-baccalaureate students spend up to three academic quarters in the program and take a mixture of courses. Students can take courses they are prepared for in their intended major at RIT, while simultaneously taking foundation courses (in Math and English, for example) offered by NTID. Most pre-baccalaureate students take Freshman Seminar, and some students take the Learning Strategies course. Career counseling is another element of the program. Students who successfully complete the pre-baccalaureate program apply to the program of their choice offered by RIT's Colleges of Applied Science and Technology, Engineering, and Science.
