Civil Engineering Technology
Why I chose my major:

Because I love figuring out how to design and make sure that things are safe. I also love to combine my science, math and technology skills to create something new.

Why I chose RIT:
I was the only deaf or hard-of-hearing student in my town's school district, so for college I wanted to be able to be around other students like me as well as hearing students.
What I like best about RIT:

There is a lot of interaction between deaf and hearing students with equal access in communication, and RIT holds a lot of events on most weekends.

Best part of living on campus:

Interacting with other people.

Dream job:
Environmental Engineer
Favorite spot on campus:

RITchie’s Game Room

Favorite professor:
Professor Wolcott, because she knows some sign language and her office hours are pretty flexible.
Favorite class:
Surveying, because it is a combination of lecture and lab with hands-on experiences.
What excites me about RIT:

Seeing deaf and hard-of-hearing students interact with hearing students.

My most memorable experience at RIT/NTID:
Brick City Homecoming
If I could tell prospective students only one thing about RIT/NTID, it would be:

Be involved and have good time management skills.

Favorite place to eat in Rochester:
Dinosaur BBQ
Favorite movie:
“Soul Surfer”
Fun fact about me:

I always smile and try to be positive.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do but never have:
Ski the Alps
The one thing I can't live without:
My sister
