"Hear and Now," the award-winning documentary featuring RIT/NTID retirees Paul and Sally Taylor, is now available on DVD.
The film was made by their daughter, Irene Taylor Brodsky, who documented her parents' journey when they both decided to get cochlear implants more than 60 years after they became deaf.
"Hear and Now" was shown on HBO and won a Peabody Award and the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. It has been a popular feature at film festivals around the world as audiences laughed and shed tears as they followed the couple's complicated journey into the world of sound.
The DVD features additional footage not previously seen. The DVD is $24.98 plus shipping from Amazon or HBO.
Paul and Sally both retired from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. Paul worked as a professor for 30 years in Applied Computer Technology and Sally worked in a variety of staff and faculty roles at RIT/NTID for 22 years.
