NTID Center on Cognition and Language
The Center’s research mission is to produce interdisciplinary and collaborative discoveries on the cognitive and language factors, as well as socio-cultural factors, that affect Deaf individuals’ learning, well-being, and health and to globally disseminate these discoveries to have a transformative impact on Deaf peoples’ lives. The Center’s research projects are funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and NTID.
The Center’s training mission is to provide state-of-the-art research mentorship programs for Deaf scholars and ultimately increase the number of Deaf scientists in social, behavioral, and biomedical research disciplines. The Center is the home of two NIH-funded training programs committed to fostering aspiring deaf scientists’development by providing outstanding mentored research experiences and one NSF funded program to broaden the participation of deaf students in sign language research.
