The Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Lacey offers statewide services to the Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafPlus, Hard-of-Hearing and Late Deafened Community of Washington. As the Communication Access Program Manager you will organize, administer, and coordinate a statewide program concerning the provision of professional and community training for service providers and families. In this role, you are in charge of creating and administering hearing loss education and resource training for state service providers, families and consumers. You will have the opportunity to partner with hearing loss communities to provide education and support. You will also work as a consultant to support Senior Citizens Companionship program for the Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard-of-Hearing and Late-Deafened individuals.
Some of what you'll do:

  • Communicate fluently in communication modalities including ASL
  • Review and monitor program services, plan guidelines and procedures and recommend updates and changes
  • Monitor effectiveness and appropriateness of services
  • Schedule and provide trainings and presentations
  • Contract management and reporting
  • Analyze, summarize and report programmatic data to management to identify problems, trends, efficiencies and effectiveness of the delivery system
  • Organize and administer trainings, workshops and presentations and tailor training modality to meet the need of each state provider request
  • Identify gaps, develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and service providers
  • Develop and maintain a partnership with other local organizations and agencies

Job Requirements for Communication Access Program Manager (Lacey, WA)

We're looking for professionals who have successfully demonstrated:

  • Ability to pass American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) rating of 3 or higher and communicate effectively in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Understanding of state and federal policies and regulations related to social, financial and health programs; principles and practices of program planning and evaluation; current social and economic problems; related to clientele; principles of community organization and public administration; program consultation, development, contract development, monitoring and negotiations
  • Knowledge of overarching issues with deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss and use of various communication methods, reasonable accommodations and legal rights

Who should apply?
Professionals with a Bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, and two years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
