Within this transformation, Office is the engine that enables people to reach their full potential through a service that provides innovation across devices continuously through software that is always up-to-date. Out team’s role is to enable the vision of Office’s Client as a Service and accelerate the growth of Office subscription by creating a great deployment experience that provides our customers with continuous value with high quality and reliability. Removing deployment blockers, unleashing new distribution opportunities and enabling agile engineering capabilities.

Our team owns Office’s Click-to-Run (C2R) technology that makes it possible for our customers to enjoy Office on their desktop devices within seconds of purchase. This is supported by a fast and scalable service that ensures our product can be delivered to anybody in the world. Our team is building a strong telemetry system that allows us to see the progress of Office installations and updates around the world so that, if there are any issues, we can respond within minutes and target fixes to affected devices. We’re working on service capabilities that will enable customers to manage product updates based on their risk tolerance while at the same time enabling our engineers to use agile rings of validation to flight new features in the wild. Long-gone are the days when users installed software through clumsy physical disks. Today, our customer’s expectation is that our software is delivered immediately and without issues no matter if where they are. Our team makes this a reality. When a person buys a new PC, we make it possible for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to preinstall Office so that a customer can start enjoying our apps from the moment they turn on the device. And we work on capabilities that enable big Enterprises (some with more than 100,000 users) to deliver the Office suite to their employees around the world, while maintaining business continuity and with the right reporting capabilities. And we work with teams across the Office 365 platform to build experiences for both Consumer and Commercial that enable users to get the version of Office desktop client that they need to be successful at work, in school or in their own personal ventures.

In this role, you’d be specifically responsible for working with OEMs to help define our preinstall strategy and design the right deployment technology that will make it possible. This includes working with Windows and partnering with them to define the right upgrade experience for an Office product that is evergreen. You will work with Windows to define how C2R can integrate in the Windows Store and help users get Office, both Universal and Desktop, through a consistent experience. You will also work with our C2R Platform team, to design any capabilities necessary so that our core engine is more pluggable and allows attach motions for other Microsoft products and services.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Engaging with customers to understand their needs and address their concerns when necessary.
  • Translating ideas into reality by working with engineers and driving for results throughout the product development cycle.
  • Partnering with teams in Office and across Microsoft to gather and prioritize requirements to ensure alignment on scenarios and create experiences that delight our customers.
  • Understanding Office’s business models and how to deliver features to support those models; in particular in support of Office 365’s growth.

  • Minimum BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 4-5 years previous program management or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent communications skills
