If the NLC is full and I need to use the computer to do my homework what do I do?

Why is "socializing" not allowed in the NLC?

The NLC is a friendly place, but a friendly place focused on learning. The NLC is designed to support students as they work on computers, do some individual studying, or work with tutors or other students on educational assignments. If you want to "hang out" with friends, great! ... but please find a place other than the NLC!

Why do I have to "sign up" to use a computer?

The computer sign-up system makes it easy to know which computers are available, and which are not (especially when this place gets busy)! The system also keeps track of overall computer demand. Finally, the system allows the NLC staff to make sure that, when "push comes to shove", people using computers for educational reasons have priority over people using computers for personal reasons.

Does NLC have fax services?

No, but your solution is not too far off! You can simply walk over to the “Helpdesk” window across the “street” from NLC front entrance doors. They offer free fax services for students. (8:30AM-4:30PM M-F)

Can I play online games or chat online in the lab?

When you sign up for a NLC computer, you are required to indicate whether or not it is for EDUCATIONAL(course work) or PERSONAL(playing games, online chat, web surfing).
