The majority of international students must fully provide their own financial support. Limited financial assistance is available to international undergraduate students who qualify, but you first must apply and be accepted to RIT/NTID.
Scholarships for deaf and hard-of-hearing international students are determined by the NTID Office of Admissions. Scholarships are restricted based on donor requirements; however, most are based on financial need and academic performance. We are pleased to offer the following scholarships for international students at RIT/NTID:
- Sasakawa Scholarship: This scholarship will provide financial assistance to qualified deaf and hard-of-hearing international students from developing countries that have good academic standing and are expected to be enrolled full time. Currently, the length of award averages five years for baccalaureate-level degree students and three years for associate-level degree students. All newly admitted incoming freshmen and transfer applicants from developing countries will automatically be considered for this scholarship by NTID Office of Admissions after acceptance to RIT/NTID. No separate forms are necessary.
- Desai India Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to deaf and hard-of-hearing students from India that show exceptional academic potential, and is awarded based on academic merit. All newly admitted incoming freshmen and transfer applicants from India will automatically be considered for this scholarship by NTID Office of Admissions. No separate forms are necessary.
Questions about these scholarships should be directed to Vicki Liggera, Assistant Director, NTID Office of Admissions.
