• 2nd place: Eric Epstein, of Tucson, Ariz., from Canyon Del Oro High School in Oro Valley, Ariz., for "A Hot Idea."
• 3rd place: Jordan Sanjaya, of Philadelphia, from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Philadelphia, for "Can Hot Water Freeze Faster than Cold Water?"
• Honorable Mention: Kayla Miller, from Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, in Pittsburgh, for "How Does Phosphorus Affect Aquatic Plants?"

• 2nd place: Matthew Wright, of Gray Court, S.C., James Ivey, of Rock Hill, S.C. and Tiffany Harrison of Simpsonville, S.C., from the South Carolina School for the Deaf, Spartanburg, S.C., for "The Toxic Effects of Oil on Fish."
• 3rd place: Tracy Lavender, of Litchfield, Ill., and Yanay Rodriguez, of Chicago, from the Illinois School for the Deaf, Jacksonville, Ill., for "Sunscreens and Environmental Hazards."

Middle School Individual Division

• 1st place: Decker Ayers, of Owego, N.Y., from Owego-Apalachin Middle School in Owego, for "Defense Against Rust."
• 2nd place: Marshall Hurst, from Vineland Station, Ont., Canada, from Vineland (Ont.) Public School, for "Solar Energy."
• 3rd place: Matthew Hart, of Carol Stream, Ill., from All Saints Catholic Academy, Naperville, Ill. for "Got Energy?"

Middle School Team Division
