Achieving
carry-over to conversational speech is critical, but always
presents a challenge. |
|
Correcting
and monitoring production is difficult especially when
incorrect productions are habituated. In the following
sequence a student produces a text and is then asked to
produce another text with monitoring. It should be noted
that this student was not receiving speech/language instruction
but volunteered to participate in a taping session.

Students
may produce more intelligible speech when they consciously
monitor their production. However, carry-over to spontaneous
speech requires normal, natural production that is not
over-articulated or emphasized. |
|
 In
this sequence a student is first asked to read what she
wrote. |
|
 She
is then asked to reread the text, concentrating on clarity.
|
|
 In
this clip the student explains what she did. |
|
 She
is then asked to read the text again, using less emphasis.
