RIT Intercollegiate Athletics
General Information

RIT is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Division III University, with a Division I Men’s Hockey team.

Student Athletes who are deaf or hard of hearing try out and participate equally with hearing student athletes on intercollegiate teams.  Many deaf or hard of hearing athletes have set college records in their sports, have been selected as their team’s captain, have received prestigious college awards, and have competed internationally in summer and Winter Deaflympics.

The NTID Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Support Team

  • Offers consultation and workshops to RIT coaches and intercollegiate teams.
  • Provides recognition and support through special sponsored events.
  • Maintains communication with prospective deaf and hard of hearing athletes and the NTID Office of Admissions.
  • Supports deaf and hard of hearing student athletes’ access i.e. interpreting services.
  • Provides leadership opportunities through the Sport Assistant program.
