Before You Arrive

Make sure that you...

  • Complete the Language Communication Background Questionnaire (LCBQ).
  • Complete the Career Interest Survey within the next 10 days. Review the Career Guide online and submit your responses by completing the survey online or by sending it back to us in the envelope provided.
  • Complete and send us the VR Information form
  • Send a copy of your Individual Plan of Employment from your Vocational Rehabilitation counselor (IPE) or fax it to 585-475-7786.
  • Create your RIT student account. You will receive an email with instructions to activate your student account. If you need assistance, you can contact the ITS HelpDesk at 585-475-4357 (V) or 585-475-2810 (TTY) or through e-mail at HelpDesk@rit.edu.
  • Complete the RIT Housing Contract included in your acceptance letter or online. If you need assistance, contact Housing Operations at 585-475-2572 (V) or 585-475-2113 (TTY) or through e-mail at housing@rit.edu.
  • REQUIRED for ALL students: Complete the Health History form and provide proof of immunizations:
    • two doses of MMR vaccine
    • three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine
    • one dose of Tetanus booster within the past 10 years
    • one does of Meningococcal vaccine
  • Insurance and Treatment Authorization
    • All students are expected to carry health insurance through family coverage, a personal policy, or through the RIT sponsored plan.  The plan must provide coverage while the student resides in Rochester, New York.  ***If you have Medicaid health insurance outside of New York, you are NOT covered/it will not work!  You will need to join your family's health insurance plan OR purchase the RIT sponsored plan!
    • If you will be enrolling in the RIT sponsored plan, please enter "RIT Plan" in the medical insurance company textbox.

  • Complete the Secondary Disability application, if applicable. If you have any questions about services for students with secondary disabilities, contact Susan Ackerman at 585-475-6988 (V/TTY) or through e-mail at smacst@rit.edu.
  • Apply for Financial Aid, and/or Vocational Rehabilitation (U.S. students only) or OSAP (Canadian students only). If you have questions, contact NTID’s Student Financial Services Coordinator, at 585-475-7496 (V/TTY) or through e-mail at NTIDaid@rit.edu.
