What is Computer Science Week?

Sponsored by Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Computer Science Week is a free one-week summer program for deaf and hard-of-hearing students from the state of California.

CSW provides opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing college-bound students to gain experience in coding and explore their personal interests in the field.

At this camp, you will:

  • Get hands-on experience in computer science and specialized skills
  • Explore two different types of coding while programming your own device
  • Learn more about what your interests are as you look toward a career
  • Get a taste of life on a college campus
  • Make new friends from all over the state
  • Have fun!

You’ll work with career counselors and faculty in small group settings to:

  • Determine your interests in coding
  • Develop decision-making skills
  • Build confidence and develop personal awareness
  • Develop leadership skills and independence

Role models at CSW
Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing faculty and staff  serve as role models, introduce students to life on a college campus, and provide support for students who may be away from home for the first time.
