Established by the parents of Paul Urich to perpetuate his memory and his love of the field of architecture by providing financial assistance to deaf and/or hard-of-hearing students enrolled in the CAD Technology program with a concentration in architecture, who intend to transfer into baccalaureate degree program in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) program at RIT. First preference will be given to hard-of-hearing students in good academic standing who demonstrate financial need to be able to complete their education.

To provide scholarship assistance to deaf students enrolled in science and engineering.

Established by the Community Architects, the local Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Upstate Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects to recognize outstanding performance in what is now NTID's Computer Aided Drafting Technology program.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Garlinghouse established the Garlinghouse Endowment in June 1992 in recognition of their son's success in the Computer Integrated Machining Technology program, and to recognize and assist deserving students enrolled in the Computer Integrated Machining Technology program at NTID.
