Collaboratory: Statistics about Deafness
One of the goals of the NTID Collaboratory is to document the demographic and economic status of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. These pages provide data about the demographic, economic and occupational status of individuals who have indicated they are “deaf or have serious difficulty hearing” on the American Community Survey (ACS). In addition, we provide similar information about the economic status of NTID alumni from collaborative studies with the Social Security Administration. Both the ACS and NTID analyses indicate the impact that graduating from college has on the long term occupational status of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
