Job Description for Web Applications Developer

Deaf Bible Society is seeking a web applications developer to help expand our products, both internally and externally. We are a non-profit organization with the mission to distribute sign language Bibles worldwide. More information about us can be found at: https://www.deafbiblesociety.com.
Essential Functions:

  • Maintains existing web applications - content, bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Designs and develops new web applications to support the organization’s needs.
  • Collaborates with various teams to understand their needs and recommend creative solutions.
  • Works well both alone and in a team environment.
  • Has an inquisitive mind - always thinking about and looking for the best and most cost effective solution for the project at hand.
  • Ability to reuse and modify open source code in order to achieve rapid deployment when feasible.

 
Other Duties:
 

  • Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and work groups as directed and maintain the required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes and policies.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects or work groups which focus on issues having an organization-wideimpact.
  • Perform or assist with assignments as required or directed.

Job Requirements for Web Applications Developer

Experience:
Required:

  • Both MEAN and LEMP stack development knowledge/experience
  • HTML5/CSS3 knowledge/experience
  • Strong understanding of cross-browser functionalities and responsive web design
  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent of 5 years experience
  • ASL fluency

Bonus:

  • PHP MVC experience (Laravel, Codeigniter, CakePHP, etc)
  • GIT versioning
  • Experience working on a cloud VPS (AWS, Linode, Digital Ocean)
  • eCommerce experience working with a payment gateway syst
  • Agile Scrum methodology
  • Understanding of UX principles
  • Experience with a variety of html template engines and CSS precompilers (handlebars, SASS, etc.
