Job Title

Architectural Intern

Work Responsibilities

It was my responsibility to prepare design drawings for schematics and different design development phases using computer-aided drafting design equipment. I accomplished these tasks working alongside advance structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, just like I would in a real permanent job. I constructed and designed drawings for budgetary and investigation reports, and arranged presentation drawings and made architectural models. I checked shop drawing submittals and sometimes added new drawings using specific CAD software programs.

How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID

In class I learned to use Revit® and AutoCAD® software programs, so it was easy to use the slightly different versions they had on my co-op job. I also used AutoCAD to draw electrical, structural and mechanical schematics, something I had not yet learned in class but will need to know. I love using these software programs and I'm happy to say I will continue using them and learning more about them as I’ve been accepted into the bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering Technology at RIT. After completing my bachelor's degree, I plan to go on to study for my master's degree in another country in a different major that I haven’t decided on as yet. I hope to return to Nigeria and teach deaf students in my country after graduation.
