NTID Performing Arts Program and RIT's College of Liberal Arts Performing Arts present "Tribes"

Billy was born deaf into a hearing family that is intellectual, idiosyncratic and politically incorrect.  He has adapted brilliantly to his family’s unconventional ways, but they have never bothered to return the favor.  All that changes when Billy meets the woman of his dreams; a woman who is not only deaf, but to the horror of his father, one who loves Sign Language and Deaf Culture.  Tribes joins The Miracle Worker and Children of a Lesser God as a seminal play that examines what it means to embrace ones deafness.

“There’s so much going on in TRIBES . . . intellect and sentiment, love and cruelty, witty zingers and biting put-downs.” – The New York Post

“TRIBES made me excited about New York theatre again; I haven’t been this knocked out by a play in a long time.” –
